The Magua Brothers (Norman V deg and Denis IV deg) were proud to host their annual tournament this year for the 7th year running. The young competitors (kids) converged at the Mandeville stadium in Kensington, Johannesburg at 8am and the Senior age group arrived at 12:30am. As with each event the running and organisation improves. This was also the case this year. It ran ahead of schedule and smoothly. A more efficient bracketing process was introduced and worked very well.
The competition was also a great opportunity to put the organisations two new seven by seven metre matted floors to the test and they exceeded expectation.
The competition was mainly attended by members of our ITF under TSA . There were also members from another ITF group and GTF. The competition standard was high and spirited. Our organisations standard in our country is known for being high and tough. Other Taekwon-Do members attend because they know it will be a tough challenge.
This tournament also serves as practice training for TSA''s up coming trip to England in October to attend the highly anticipated British Imperial Championships, to be held by the Magua Brothers instructor Master Trevor Nicholls VIII deg. This coming event will be their international tournament for the year.
Taekwon-Do South Africa is sadly unable to attend the World Championships in Korea this year due to the fact that the FIFA football world cup is being held in South Africa at the same time and has made traveling at that time very difficult and expensive. We are sad to miss it but hope it is a huge success for our I.T.F.
We wold like this opportunity to thank all the competitors, medalists, officiators, helpers and spectators for making the tournament a success.
We look forward to to next years event
