Italian Open Championships – 25th April 2010
About 100km south of Rome, lies the historical seaside town of Terracina, which was host to the Italian Open Championships 2010.
The weather was warm and sunny, summer was definitely in the air, almost to make you want to take to the beaches and soak up the sun!.. But instead.. we all headed to the town’s Sports Centre which was all set up for having a fun day in Taekwon-do, and welcoming competitors and their instructors from all parts of Italy.
The organizer of this tournament, Mr Fabio Caiazzo VI Degree, welcomed everyone in his style. He was, as always, full of energy and had plenty to say on how much he enjoys teaching Taekwon-do and how happy he was to see the large number of people who came to attend the event, and gave a special thanks to competitors from GTF Taekwon-do and their president Mr. Angelo Ianiello.
There were many very young competitors, starting from the 6-7 year-olds, who enjoyed themselves in pattern and sparring disciplines. Some of them already showing signs of being made for this sport and could have a great future in Taekwon-do.
While the older competitors’ pattern and sparring sessions however, were extremely competitive and exiting, ending with the senior black-belt middle-weight session which grabbed all the spectators’ attention as the competitors were well-matched and it took several bouts to finally agree on the winner.
The judges and referees were coordinated by Mr. Simone Pisa who ensured all sections were running smoothly, and the fair judging by all was a demonstration of good sportsmanship and fair play.
It was a fun get-together, well organized and a great success. Well done to all!
And a big thank-you to everyone who attended the event.
