International
umpire certificate course was successfully held by Malaysia Taekwon-do
Administrative Council(MTAC) and assist by MO #427 Zest Martial Arts Academyat
Olympic Sports Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
The first ever international umpire certificate course
in Malaysia received positive responses from ITF members, not just locally but
globally. There are total of 46 participants respectively from United Kingdom,
Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. The auspicious event was officiated by guest
of honor, Master Trevor Nicholls, Secretary General of the ITF, Master Daniel
Sng, President and Singapore Representative and Master David Lau, President of
the Hong Kong Original Taekwon-Do Council.
The course was host by Master Trevor Nicholls with
assistance of Mr. Mark Richards and Mrs Wendy Richards, both are experienced
umpire instructors from London. The one-day intensive course was conducted in a
very professional and engaging manner; the content was clearly presented,
through a combination lecture and discussion based modules as well as practical
modules covering rules of ITF competition.Participants were also given an
opportunity to get some practical experience judging free sparing under the ITF
competition’s rules, with volunteers acting as competitors. Besides, the latest
electronic scoring system was introduced to participants too. By utilizing this
computerized system, it will helps in enhancing the
efficiency and accuracy of tournaments.
The event ended after a brief vote of thanks by Master
Trevor Nicholls and certificate presentation ceremony. In the evening, all
guests of honor and members were invited to a farewell dinner at local western
food restaurant, and organizer had also prepared a surprise birthday
celebration for Mrs. Wendy Richard. The night filled with joyful and also
foster a closer bond among ITF members.
