On May 11th 2013, Master Parm Rai and Mr. Louie Sanchez had the Honour to host the 2013 Master Choi’s Cup in Oakville, Canada.

The delegates from UK and USA and various parts across Canada started to arrive by Thursday in preparation for the Championship.

The competition started right on time at 9am as promised with over 380 competitors.  There were numerous Master Instructors at the event as well as special guest, Master Robert Wheatley, ITF promotion committee chairman from USA and Master Trevor Nicholls, ITF Secretary General from UK.

The junior kids competition was started with the opening ceremonies planned for 12 noon.

Special Guest of honour, President Choi arrived along with the Mayor of Oakville, Mr. Rob Burton and local city counsellors.

There was a short demonstration by 2004 World power breaking champion, Mr. Chris Reid, the Canadian women’s Taekwon-Do team and Master Richard Parris, member of Team Canada at 1984 World Championships in Scotland.  The demonstrations were spectacular with the competitors and Audience in Awe.

Master Choi presented the Mayor of Oakville with an Honorary 1st degree Black Belt.

A special surprise was the attendance of Master Choi’s two daughters, Yuni and Jasmine who came to watch the championship and greet everyone.

The tournament ran like clockwork and Master Choi pleased everyone by staying for the entire event signing autographs and taking pictures.

A special canvass painting of Gen. Choi was presented to all instructors by Master Rai and Mr. Sanchez which was liked by all.

Master Choi wished to make this tournament an annual event which Master Rai and Mr. Sanchez were only pleased to oblige.

In all a great tournament with great people.
