BackMorningstar Taekwon-Do attends Goodwill Championships in Connecticut
Written by: Scott Seguin - 4th November 2005
On Friday October 14th and 7:00am, 22 competitors and 24 supporters from Morningstar Taekwon-Do in Oakville, Canada boarded their 46 seat Greyhound bus for the 8hr drive to New Haven Connecticut. They were on their way to participate in this years Goodwill Championships. Competitors from across the United States, Canada and even a team from Jamaica came together at Albertus Magnus College on the grounds of Yale University for what turned out to be a fantastic championship in the true spirit of ITF Taekwon-Do.
The host, Mr. John Cacioli and Black Dragon Taekwon-Do, did the usual fantastic job in organising and executing a precision event.
Some special guests who were on hand were ITF Committee member Master John Tompkins and ICTF Vice-President Master Joe Cariati. This championship was very unique in that members of the ITF, USTF and ICTF came together in true friendship with only one thing in mind, to give their students an avenue to improve. No politics!
The day started with an excellent display of technique in the black belt pattern division and feirce competition in all of the black belt sparring catagory's. Once the black belt divisions were complete all the judges reported to their respective rings and conducted the colored belt divisions in an orderly fashion.
When all was said and done and the dust settled, Morningstar Taekwon-Do students faired well coming home with a total of 26 medals. A job well done! Congratulations to all that participated and to the host, Mr. Cacioli for once again organising a top notch competition. We look forward to our next trip to the USA for the April 1st competition in Philadelphia hosted by Mr. James Fallon and the United Taekwon-Do Association.
Taekwon!
