Master Choi Jung Hwa and I arrived to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on March 9, 2005 after spending approximately twenty-four hours travelling by air. We were greeted at the airport by a delegation from INO 68 led by Master Chew Teck Seong and given a very warm reception.

Prior to the seminar which commenced on March 11, 2006, we were given an update on the activities of INO 68 in Malaysia and the surrounding region. As always, Master Chew Teck Seong and the Organizing Committee for this seminar did everything possible to make President Choi and I feel at home.

As many of you know, Malaysia holds a special place in President Choi’s heart as it is the country where our Founder was the first Korean ambassador and where Taekwon-Do was first introduced outside of Korea.

On Friday, March 10, 2006, President Choi and I were introduced to Mr. Dato Sieh Kok Chi, the Honorary Secretary for the Olympic Council of Malaysia. We were also given an opportunity to tour their museum which had on display a history of Malaysia’s participation in the Olympics.

The seminar began on a hot, humid Saturday morning at the Olympic Sports Council of Malaysia (OCM) building in Kuala Lumpur. Assisting President Choi at this seminar was Dr. Zibby Kruck from Australia. Registered for this event were more than 100 participants from Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Nepal, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.

The seminar focused on secret techniques for generating power and covered not only patterns but also the theory of maximizing power through practice drills.

On Saturday evening, a banquet was held celebrating the fortieth birthday of the International Taekwon-Do Federation. I was given the privilege of addressing the banquet on behalf of the International Taekwon-Do Federation and President Choi. The participants were also given an opportunity to watch a video of a Korean television program that featured ITF Korea and our martial art as a means to improve the fighting style of two famous fighters in Korea.

During our three day visit, we also heard from the various INO’s in the Asia region of their desire to organize a Committee to plan a future calendar of events for the region and co-ordinate all ITF activities.

On all accounts, the event was a huge success.
